In the future, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe could have Adaptation Planning classes on how to prepare for climate change by teaching a number of traditional skills such as hunting, fishing and harvesting techniques; how to cure and smoke fish; how to garden, weed, harvest, and can; make clothes/pouches out of hide; make baskets; prepare and dry corn, beans and squash and other root vegetables; identify, prepare, and harvest medicine plants; prepare Indian Corn for drying, braiding, grinding, and making into mush; prepare cornbread; make drums and rattles; carve wood; and use cow horns. These classes would help to pass down the traditional practices of the Tribe in the face of the changes that climate change will bring.
