The Wildland Urban Interface project, another activity of the Forestry Resources program of the Tribe, has a mechanism to achieve reduced fire hazard through the removal of brush and woody debris near and around homes, critical infrastructure, and government facilities. Services are provided by the project’s five-man crew that undertakes these activities throughout the summer months. These efforts should be strengthened in coming years to reduce the increased threat of wildfire under climate change.
