Traditional Iroquois White Flour corn seed may also be available through Cornell University’s American Indian Agriculture Project, designed to support and expand indigenous agriculture in New York. Some of these varieties may be hardier and more adaptive under the climatic conditions of the future. As Hoover (2010) notes, crop varieties used by Haudenosaunee farmers in the past may be more suited to local climate and soil conditions, have stronger resistance to local pests and diseases, and provide more nutrition than modern varieties.
