A soil survey of Akwesasne was conducted in 1994 by the Natural Resources Conservation Service of the United States Department of Agriculture. This document and the associated maps provide a resource for better managing Akwesasne’s soils by identifying their capacity for agriculture and other uses, and by determining which areas most need drainage improvements or additional irrigation to be effectively used for agriculture.
