Cross pollination and hybridization of ‘snyaaw can capture genetic traits leading to advantages such as, hybrid vigor. The natural occurring process of cross pollination, aided and accelerated with a nursery breeding program, would bring greater understanding of the advantages of the plant genetics for Manzanita’s oaks. This would be a great contribution to Oak breeding research for the region as Manzanita’s Oaks are at the fringe of the margin of it’s range. From a genetic perspective, Manzanita’s Oaks have a high potential to capture a greater genetic diversity for it’s geographic position in the ‘snyaaw range.
