Continue implementing the Cultural Resources Protection Code. The cultural resources of the Lummi Nation are administered and protected by the Cultural Resources Department in accordance with the Cultural Resources Preservation Code (LCL Title 40). Department actions include managing the Lummi Cultural Resource Register, issuing Cultural Resource Permits, and monitoring implementation of federal laws (e.g., the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act [NAGPRA], the National Historic Preservation Act [NHPA]). Cultural Resources Department staff members are aware of potential climate change impacts and are already taking steps to begin addressing these impacts and ensure the continued protection of cultural resources under future climate scenarios.
