Provide public education and outreach to inform residents of potential climate change impacts and ways to prepare for these impacts. Increasing public awareness of climate change impacts empowers individuals to take steps toward protecting themselves and their families in the event of climate-related emergencies. Outreach activities may build on efforts already underway as part of the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (2010), such as promoting the establishment and maintenance of 72 hour emergency survival kits, sponsoring Safe Streets Walks to promote community disaster awareness, and providing informational brochures and online resources.
