Anticipate the health effects of climate change, to assure that systems are in place to detect and track them, and to take steps to prepare for, respond to, amd manage associated risks. This includes 1) identifying population groups at greatest risk for specific health threats, such as severe weather and heat waves that pose a particular risk to the young, the elderly, and the poor, and 2) communicating the health-related aspects of climate change, including the risks and ways to reduce them, to the public, decision makers, and healthcare providers.
