If summer water temperatures in a lake remain < 28C (82oF) in the hypolimnion for consecutive years, consider the lake to be habitable for walleye and maintain the current fish community. If summer temperatures are greater than a certain threshold (e.g., > 28C (82o F)) in the hypolimnion for consecutive years, consider altering the fish community to a warmer water assemblage.
