Focus on habitat restoration with particular attention to milkweed, the only source of food for monarch caterpillars. Inclusion of Showy milkweed, a species of milkweed native to the Palouse Ecosystem, in restoration planting mixes as well as adjacent to roads on highways can provide patches that are ideal for monarch larva.
